Trash Panic is a newsletter born out of an extreme love for old, antique, vintage things, mixed with my frequent night sweats about climate change and the rate at which we are swallowing ourselves whole in overconsumption, viral trends, and fast fashion. After nearly a decade in retail merchandising and luxury wardrobe styling, I’ve had an up close, unglamorous look at just how much STUFF is actually out there.
You can expect Trash Panic in your inbox weekly, with regular dispatches like The Dump, a roundup of dozens of the best vintage and secondhand finds from around the internet, along with various collections of finds organized around a mood, a theme, or some other very specific obsession or rabbit hole I’ve fallen into.
Almost everything here is vintage or secondhand, because I am a firm believer that there’s something floating around this planet that’s better than that viral-chic-cool-girl-must-have new arrival you’re desperate to ✨add to cart✨
Think of this as a place for less influencing and more discerning self discovery — a chance to sift through the detritus, sharpen your eye, follow your own taste, and maybe find something that feels like you rather than something the algorithm has decided you need.
Why would you buy something crappy and new when you can buy something spectacular and used?
A Note on Vintage
While there is no better rush than the thrill of finding that one-of-a-kind-feels-made-just-for-you vintage treasure, these retro things have spent a lot of time on this planet with varied wear and tear. Please keep in mind that while I find no better joy than surfing the web for cool shit, it’s up to you to do the research when you add to cart — look at the shipping fees! Read the item descriptions! Zoom in on photos! Read the dimensions! Buy at your own risk!! Part of buying old things is accepting that sometimes they might fall apart, smell funny, or have nicks and scratches. It’s all part of the adventure.
A Note on Affiliate Links
There's a lot of chatter these days about affiliate links, and the general lack of transparency around the honesty and intention in which they are being used. Affiliate links are woven into the structure of Trash Panic to help compensate for the hours (and hours) it takes to hunt down one-of-a-kind vintage and secondhand treasures. I make a point of spelling out exactly what link you're clicking on, including pricing and sizing, so there's no trickery involved and you always know where it's taking you. Anything new that I feature is either something I personally own, have touched or tried on, or is used purely for illustrative purposes — to show you how you might style something in your own life. The commission I earn from affiliate links helps keep Trash Panic running and I will always disclose in a dispatch when they are being used.
